Happy Birthday (one week ago)

It's late at night and I want to write this post because we are going to be away next week and I know I'll never write it if not now.

My very Beautiful Princess
This year I can not believe the changes that have happened to you. You are no longer a little girl. I thought that last year that you went through much growth but it felt quite minor compared to this year. Going to school and being away from you for much of our day has grown you up. This sounds in a bad way but really its just different. Yes school has made you more knowledgable in things that maybe we wish you weren't but it has brought out a strength and love that its just so amazing to see.

You have had your challenges this year, it was hard on you to be away from me and your sisters, for that I was grateful because even though you had great fun at school it made me feel like you thought Mummy was fun(er), and I know this will not last for long.

What is funny about you is that you have discovered comedy. You have decided that you are funny. Which makes me laugh because you don't base this on anybody's opinion just your own. You like to laugh (alot). I wasn't a girl who would giggle about anything and everything growing up but I think you are. I love how you put your hand over your mouth to contain your giggles, you're very cute.

What also amazes me is just how much you have learnt this year. You're brain is a sponge. You seem to just soak in all up. You get up on my computer and can get yourself into your programs and when you once needed me right next to you to answer questions now I get sent an email to tell me you've just finished a level and that your reading sentences. Although we have learnt that you are not the perfect student and ironically its because you want to be perfect. If you have doubts in your ability to do a task perfectly you just won't do it. This is very frustrating for your teacher but... well it just means daddy and I will just have to give you some more challenges and encourage you to try, even if you sometimes fail.

Happy 6th birthday my gorgeous girl, I so look forward to seeing you grow some more, but please not too fast because I still want to be your fun Mummy and I want you to always be my baby girl.

Another sick day

Princess was off sick today but I do feel like I was duped a little. This morning she had a loose cough by 10am she was fine again. The problem is that the school makes it pretty clear that they don't want sick children at school.

It wasn't too bad for me as I've come down with a cold which is terrible timing as our new nephew is coming tomorrow and so we will need to put off our first visit until we're all germ free.

Anyway I decided that with some help I would take the opportunity of having all three girls home that I would try to get some photos of all three. I'm not completely happy with any but these were my favourites.

Where is my baby? I think I am going to be in shock spending time with the little newborns.

Another school event

This week it was book week which ended on Friday with a very long parade of all the kiddies from prep to year 5.

They had to go as thier favourite book character. For Princess it was quite easy. She was Lady Bug girl. We love this book as it promotes children to use
their imaginations rather than having to rely on others, such as parents to create activities for them.
These are the books which we have.

I'm a bit excited to see there are more in the series now. Princess' birthday isn't far away. I wonder if I can get them before that.

Princess at sports day

This photos says so much about our little Princess.
That's her in the red bib with her hands in front of her face.
She was so shy about racing. I think she was watching all the older children race first so anxiety levels were left at a high level until her turn. She wasn't actually too bad and came in third which parental pride makes me want to add that one of her competitors was a boy. Bad bad pride.

Anyway we were happy that she tried her best and showed great sportsmanship.

Wearing red today

I'm wearing red today because in Australia we've been asked to. It's a colour which Daniel Morecomb's family has asked us to wear in honour of their deceased son.

Their story is so harrowing and I can not imagine the heartache they have gone through. They have been so strong to continue to search for their son and his abducter. What they have done for child protection in our state is huge.

Another day at home

Princess is still not quite better although she is much improved, just getting her tummy used to food again seems to be a process.

I think Happy Girl is ready to go out today. Her latest word is 'shoes', its funny as the word is posed as a question as her tone goes up at the end of the word. So even though the other girls are perfectly happy wearing their pjs all day this little girl is wearing her shoes and her hat which she brings to me alot at the moment too.

Well if she can't go to school she can at least improve her computer skills.
It's funny because both Sweetness and Happy Girl move their chairs here all by themselves.

Reasons I shouldn't stay home

I'm going to get fat.

Princess is home from school today as she is still sick and wanted to make choc chip cookies so she wouldn't miss out on the cooking.
Amish cookies as seen here http://melissagoodsell.typepad.com/recipes/2008/06/amish-cookies.html

At the end she hasn't eaten one as she still isn't feeling all that good but Lord willing she will be better by the end of the day and taste her goodies.
Before I eat them all.
