About the novel

Just a quick note about the novel. I haven't written much lately but I have been further thinking about it and researching and therefore there is some differences within the story. I decided to make it just before the war had officially began becaue I read a few things and so I wanted to add a few of those things. Also it has been a while so characters may have changed a little but I will let you interpret them as you see fit. The other change It hought would make things easier to read if I posted half chapters because some of the chpaters were getting a little long.

In other news we have had enormous amounts of rain in the last week, and a few storms which have caused a lot of damage on the north side of the city.

On Sunday afternoon we let the girls have a little play, of course they were still in their church dresses but how could we resist a good splashing.

First steps

I know I should be writing my novel and I am planning on getting some good writing this weekend but I just wanted to share that Sweetness has just taken her first few steps. So cute, although I must admit I wasn't willing this to happen too soon as I watch other mum's at swimming and places like that where their children could walk off on their own, at least Sweetness would have to stay close in order to hold on but life with small children is not meant to be too easy right so I shall celebrate her sucess with you all.

In another photo you can see that rather than writing I have been building cubbies with the girls.

A quick note

The truth is I haven't got to much to say. I have been attempting to write and have achieved just over 10000 words which is 1/5 way through, unfortunately I should be more at 1/3 so I have some word ahead if I do want to make the target.

Another issue that has been consuming me is the way one talks to their fellow man. We all like to feel like me are right don't we? We wouldn't believe something if we didn't think we are right, do we? So how do we feel/cope with someone tell us that we are wrong or correcting us? The truth is I have never really taken criticism well. I am not sure I really could have worked as an actress in my youth because I didn't like someone telling me what I did was wrong. Am I so much different now? Maybe a little, just a tiny little bit I think. But what it has made me aware of is how I talk to other people. I was so embarrassed the other day when someone mis-spoke the name of something, they hadn't really noticed they got it wrong and there was not real issue because I knew what they were talking about but I couldn't help myself and I (it seemed) just had to say the correct word. Did I add to the conversation? No. I can't really say why I did it, but I must say I really regretted it afterwards and I apologised.
But it just isn't why we say something it is the way we do it. Yes I understand there are certain things in life that we (I) need to be set straight on but how do you do it. Are we doing it with respect for that person or are we most concerned with 'setting them straight'.
Respect is such an important topic and one I am reminded about everyday. After reading a book lately about marriage it discusses that the most important thing for a woman is to feel loved by her husband, and for a man it is to feel respected.
I feel like respect is going out of fashion fast in today's society and that people are more concerned with having as much influence over people and being the most right. I think everyone wants to know something that others don't and they sure enjoy setting the others straight on the matter.
I love knowledge, I think it is important to share it with other but my rant is about how we share our knowledge and why we need to share our knowledge.

My novel writing

Well it is now the month of November and as I have previously explained I have signed up to write 50000 words of a novel during this month. My very uninteresting news is that I have decided to set up a blog (yes another one) and copy the chapters on to it.

I am not asking you to read it because really historical fiction is not for everyone one and also being mindful that this is a FIRST Draft. This means that I am just trying to get the ideas and words out of my brain and into the world. I know that I will have historical errors and sometimes atrocious grammar but bear in mind this is my first attempt and it has been sometime since I have tried to write grown up material.

Anyway I just thought I would mention it was there out there in cyber space. You can find it in my blog list as Ionasbook or All a Girl Wants.

This writing business also means the blogs on this site may be few and far between.
